It’s that feeling you get
When you walk into an empty room
And you can still feel her there
When you walk down the hallway
And you can feel their eyes on you
When your fingers brush the spines of books
With his breath tickling the back of your neck
It’s chocolate touching your lips
Sugar hitting your tongue
It’s music flowing over you
Your fingers playing the notes that you can pick
It’s the sun on your face
While your hair sways with an invisible wind
It’s the words that jump from your page
Into your minds eye
Creating an unimaginable world
It’s that feeling that you get
That’s almost impossible to describe
It comes with
Friends
Family
Books
Music
Sun
This is an entry to PoeticNation's contest. The whole idea is to use an emotion but never say it or any synonym of it. So I chose to do contentment. I hope everyone likes it.

I love this line: "When your fingers brush the spines of books" (among others as well; that one is just my favorite). Some of these lines really hit me, I can feel it like a punch in the gut. I also like how you keep saying different things, because as I read it I read it faster and faster with growing intensity and that is a good rhythm for this poem, I think.
